Add to a matter’s docket

  1. Open Docket in the navigation and choose a matter. You can also use Open electronic docket in Matter Details.
  2. Use Case details to add an optional case number and court, office, or branch.
  3. Select Add docket entry. Enter its title and entry date, optionally set a separate Deadline, choose a Section from the dropdown, and add tags or notes. Use Add new section… to create a custom label for this matter.
  4. Add labeled document links and use the arrows to set their order. An entry accepts up to 50 links.
  5. Optionally select up to 20 related timed sessions using the checkboxes. Use Show selected to review your choices across search results or pages; uncheck a session to remove it. Their saved source links and session descriptions are copied into the entry when saved.
  6. Select Save docket entry.

Electronic docket is shared workspace data. Each person viewing or organizing it must have Premium and belong to the workspace. When selecting new sessions, existing time-entry access still applies. Filed session descriptions and links become shared docket content.

Links open documents at their original locations; access is still controlled by the service hosting the document. The docket stores links and notes, not uploaded copies of those files.

Find and organize entries

Use Manage sections beside the section filters to add, rename, or remove labels for this matter. Removing a section moves its active and archived entries to General and keeps their notes, links, and session copies. General remains available as the default section. Renaming to an existing label combines the sections.

Search titles, notes, tags, links, and filed session descriptions. Filter by section, choose oldest or newest first, or pin key entries above the chronology. Edit an entry to rename or reorder its links. Archive hides an entry from the active docket; Restore brings it back.

Editing or archiving a docket entry does not change its original time records or billing values. Saved source copies remain in the docket if a time record is later removed.

Deleting the parent matter or client also removes its docket. Use Archive for entries you want to retain.

Track a docket entry’s deadline

Entry date records when the entry belongs in the case history. Deadline records when its work is due. Add or edit an entry to set an optional deadline; the saved deadline appears on that date in the schedule. Select its marker or its row in a date preview to open the original docket entry.

The entry shows Upcoming, Due today, Overdue, or Completed. Check Deadline completed on the entry or in its editor when the work is done. Completed deadlines remain available under Completed or All statuses in the schedule. Uncheck it to reopen the deadline. Changing the deadline date reopens it; clearing the date removes the deadline.

Entry deadlines are shared with the workspace and appear under All staff or Unassigned. Archiving an entry hides its deadline from the schedule; restoring the entry brings it back.

Set the deadline date yourself. It is a date-only item and does not calculate court deadlines or send email reminders. Use a Workspace case event when you need a specific time or assigned staff.

Schedule and assign case work

  1. Open Docket. Choose a matter to see its entries beside the schedule, or view All matters and cases.
  2. Select New event and choose Workspace case event, or use Schedule on a docket entry to prefill the same event panel.
  3. Choose the matter, title, date type, and date range. Turn off All day to set times and a timezone.
  4. Select the workspace members handling the work. Optionally link a docket entry and add a location or notes.
  5. Select Create event. Use the staff and status filters to review the schedule. Edit the date to reschedule it or mark it Completed or Cancelled.
  6. Hover over a date to preview every event that day, then move into the popover and select an event to open it. Click or tap a date to keep its list open; press Escape or click outside to close it.

Case scheduling is included in Premium and is shared with Premium members of the workspace. It needs no separate Calendar sync access or Google connection. A date can be left unassigned.

Click a case event to edit it in the event panel. Personal appointments use the same panel with their own Google Calendar connection and sharing settings. Case dates do not send emails, create billable time, or sync to Google automatically.
